A Guide To Your Vilnius Hen Weekend

Where to Drink in Vilnius

Old Town is where it's at in terms of trendy hangouts and cool bars. You won't need to drag the hens around town to find the best places to drink as they're all in this one district that changes vibe with the setting sun. After dark the atmosphere is electric and hens can opt for a relaxing evening in a sophisticated cocktail joint, or get dancing in a live music venue.

This easy to explore district hosts some of the best clubs we've ever been to; set in disused factories or underground spaces that you just can't get anywhere else in Europe. It's exclusive from the start to the finish of your night with so much fun to be had. Being a hen has never been so good!

Sights & Sounds

Sights - If you're looking to explore the weird and wonderful side of this fabulous city then a trip to Uzupis is well worth your time. This Vilnius neighbourhood has declared itself as a republic and it actually has its own president, cabinet of ministers and a 12 man army - so no misbehaving ladies! In all seriousness, this is where the city's artists go to produce their best work, and some even consider the republic to be an art installation in its own right.

Sounds - Vilnius' moody young hipsters and vibrant glitterati all have one thing in common - they spend their weekends in Opium. This is the city's most exclusive club, and it's the home of Vilnius' thriving underground electronic dance scene. Futuristic isn't the word!
Loftas is the craziest club that GoHen's ever been to; it's set inside an old factory, but the only thing that's produced here now are unforgettable nights out.

Shopping in Vilnius

Upon landing in Vilnius, you might think you've made a terrible mistake...but don't fret hens; you haven't accidentally flown to Paris, Vilnius is one of the secret style capitals of Europe and the Lithuanian ladies like to dress up. But if you're thinking that you've got to spend big money at the most exclusive retailers to achieve a glam look, then think again!

Getting Around Vilnius

This city is hugely cosmopolitan, everything in Vilnius has an appearance of effortlessness, and the same can be said for the excellent transport network. Buses and Trolley's are the best ways to get around, and you can buy a variety of day and week passes so you don't have to worry about having the right change in your pocket each time you want to ride!
Can't be bothered to wait for the bus? You can travel the city on two wheels with a CycloCity public bike.

Hen Days

So what can you expect in Vilnius aside from amazing shopping, fantastic sightseeing and hunky Lithuanian men? For the thrill-seeking bride-to-be there's Quad Biking, Go Karting, 4x4 Driving and Kayaking. If you're after energetic group activities, then Curling, Golfing and Archery are sure to get everybody involved! See more hen activities in Vilnius.

Lithuania hasn't been the happiest country in the past century, so now things are on the up-and-up they're making up for lost time when it comes to partying! Get your evening underway with a delicious meal at the Restaurant of your choice before heading off on our Guided Bar Crawl, or if you're feeling lucky, why don't you visit the Casino? It's time for a hen party in Vilnius!

Vilnius might seem small and sweet, but it packs an unexpected punch in the hen do stakes! It's a relative newcomer as a hen do destination, but the pretty Baroque charm hides that beneath the churches and frost things are heating up, and a Vilnius hen do has the potential to be absolutely sizzling! As more and more people catch on to Vilnius as a fantastic weekend getaway destination, the city just keeps improving, with new hotels, restaurants and clubs adding a little more style and colour to an already staggering city, so get yourself and the girls across before everyone else turns up!

Why: Reasons to celebrate in Vilnius

It's been called the 'New Prague'; a city with all the culture, history (and cheap beer), but without the over exposure to tourism. This makes it a perfect location for a hen weekend. With a long and proud history evident in the stunning architecture of the world heritage site, Vilnius looks like the sort of city a group of girls could appreciate for days - and the sky scrapers spring up alongside the cathedrals and churches demonstrate how busy and popular the city is getting. The prices for food and accommodation are low, which bodes well for the most important aspect of any hen weekend - the nightlife. A Vilnius hen do can enjoy a wild, devilish nightlife that keeps growing to accommodate some of the most welcoming and enthusiastic clubbers around, with over 60 bars and pubs alone in the city centre. Mix that with temperatures that are actually surprisingly high for half the year, and you and the girls have a world class weekend ahead of you!

What: What can you do on a hen party in Vilnius?

There's plenty of touristy fun to keep you busy through the weekend, if you and the girls are in to churches, castles, statues of Frank Zappa (who isn't?). If not, don't worry; GoHen has plenty of alternatives to choose from. If you're all looking to spend some time bonding and laughing together as a group, we've got a huge range of team building activities like paintball, go karting or quad biking to keep you all busy. Alternately, use the hen weekend as the chance for a well deserved rest and relax with a massage or a pampering day. In the evening, things get even busier, with trendy bars and bustling pubs, gourmet restaurants, and guest list nightclubbing to keep you and all the girls happy after the sun goes down.

Shop: Vilnius shopping areas & recommendations

There are plenty of great shopping opportunities in Vilnius, whether you're after cheerful high street shops or quaint independent stores. It's also worth noting that shopping here can be much, much cheaper than shopping in other big European cities. The main shopping areas in Vilnius can be divided into two main parts - the Old Town, with antiques, jewellery, books and art, and the city's classiest street, Gedimino (for designer clothes, shoes, mobile phones and more books). The city's markets are also a great experience for an authentic taste of Vilnius, or for something a bit bigger and busier there are a number of large shopping centres around the city where you'll find all the main clothing, footwear and high street stores.

Stay: Choosing your Vilnius hen weekend accommodation

As you'd expect of a popular European city, Vilnius offers a great range of accommodation. You'll find the best action in the city centre, with great activities and nightlife mainly based there, so it's best to find somewhere in or around the centre. Our range of top quality accommodation is all based in appealing locations, and ranges from our purse-friendly 2 star options to our luxurious 5 star hotels. In between them our 3 and 4 star hotels also do the job and you can make the most of city-centre locations, just see our Vilnius hen party accommodation page and let us know which option suits you best.

Party: Where Vilnius hen parties head after dark

Vilnius has a great range of nightlife, with lively bars, traditional Lithuanian pubs and glitzy nightclubs. In total there are over 60 bars and pubs alone, and most of these can be found in the two main nightlife areas of the city. These are Islandijos street district and Vokieciu street district, both of which have a fun, friendly atmosphere and a range of great discos and watering holes. There are also a few good venues on Traku Street. To get the most out of your big hen night it's a good idea to pre-plan some entertainment - you could take the girls for some high-rolling merriment at one of Vilnius' glitzy casinos, or set off on a guided bar crawl given by an English-speaking local. We can sort you out with guestlist nightclubbing at one of Vilnius' best nightclubs and you'll be set for success! Take a look at our Vilnius hen night ideas and let us know what takes your fancy.

When: The best times to visit for a hen party in Vilnius

Along with the fantastic hen activities to try out in all seasons there's a good range of events and festivals taking place throughout the year in Vilnius. The city's well established as a dynamic, diverse setting. More than 20 theatres operate in the city, and Cathedral Square, Vingis and Kalnu Parks and the banks of the Neris River are all perfect settings for public events. Visit in February for the Vilnius Book Fair, the largest book fair in the Baltics, or in March for the Kaziukas Fair with hundreds of market stalls. In April there's the Young Music Festival and then in June Vilnius Festival plays a range of styles and genres. Visit in August for the St Christopher Summer Music Festival or in October for the Vilnius Jazz Festival. Christmas is also a beautiful time in the capital- huge Christmas trees pop up around Cathedral Square and live music and processions take to the streets. Not to mention the traditional Christmas race, Santa costumes and all. Whenever you and the girls choose to visit this magical Lithuanian city you can be sure of an unforgettable time.
