Norwich has class, style and plenty of places to find a drink once you're done exploring all the terrific town.
The flatlands of Norfolk are easy to navigate, with no traipsing up hills to get to that perfect bar. Luckily, you're a spoiled group of hens in this part of the country and cosy pubs, craft beer joints and swish cocktail lounges are all on offer.
Queen Street is a hen-friendly place to start, and from here you're within walking distance of lengthy wine lists and smashing 2-for-1 deals.
Friars Quay is where it's AT for the traditional pub vibe. Riverside beer gardens? Yes please!
Near all the cool museums you'll find the Castle Quarter which is hot-bed for bars if you fancy a break from retail exhaustion.
Children of the 90's might remember the film The Secret Garden and on your hen-do, you'll discover one for yourselves! Plantation Garden is a wonderful natural space that's stood for over 100 years in an abandoned quarry. This is a tranquil safe-haven away from the hustle and bustle of city living, and seeing as it's centrally located, any hens still feeling the previous evening's excesses can rest assured that sun-lit relaxation is never too far away (depending on the weather!).
If you're looking for a club from the future then stop searching because you've found it! Wonderland is a seriously high-tech party spot that looks as if it was designed by the Mad Hatter, in a good way. This is one rabbit hole we certainly recommend you fall down...just don't refer to the bouncers as Tweedledum and Tweedledee!
Mantra is often the club of choice for Norwich's glitterati and local celebrities. The fabulous oriental-chic décor is a stylish touch, and when the night gets going, the party atmosphere is simply palpable.
Norwich is a great place to shop and the streets are lines with fancy boutiques, cute cafes and genteel jewellery shops making it ideal for any hen weekend where you're keen to sample the finer things in life! Here are a couple of the best stores unique to the city.
Finch - Independent and proud; Finch have one of the finest collections of minimal and vintage clothing around, it can get a little pricey, but the threads you'll find here are certainly worth the extra money.
Where? 14 St Benedicts Street, NR2 4AG
Retreat Vintage - This bijou boutique is full of lovely retro-chic goods that are sure to please any bride-to-be with an eye for fashionable bargains!
Where? 26A Magdalen Street, NR3 1HU
Norwich used to be the capital of this country don't you know? This city is pretty big, and you certainly wouldn't want to wobble too far in your brand new heels. So luckily for you there's an extensive bus network that'll take you where you need to go (or near enough that you won't mind walking a tiny bit!).
This city is packed with things to do whether you're enjoying an afternoon tipple in the bars or shopping to your hearts content on the high street. However, you're on a hen party, and you need to get involved with the kind of activities that you'll never forget! Cocktail Mixing and our Wine Tasting are all activities where you can have a hen-tastic time while enjoying some of your favourite drinks. Or if you're looking for a little more action, Bubble Mayhen, School Sports Day and Grease Dancing are great options that are sure to result in plenty of girly giggles! Norwich nights out are unexpectedly thrilling - it might not be known for it's buzzing nightlife, but the amazing bars and clubs here really are East Anglia's best kept secret, we won't tell anyone if you don't... Enjoy a tasty Restaurant meal, or if you're feeling mischievous, why don't you see if you can solve our Murder Mystery over three courses? End the night on a high with our Guestlist Nightclubbing. As beautiful as it is classy and cosmopolitan as it is historic, a Norwich hen do perfectly blends the trendy and traditional to set the tone for a wonderfully classic weekend with the girls. The city's got bags of history, art and culture and a thriving student body keen to keep the vibrant nightlife on its toes. With not one but four national department stores within its limits, and lead billing as one of the top 10 retail destinations in the UK, the shopping scene in Norwich is simply incredible! Small enough to keep things cosy, big enough to bring it home in style, fun-packed days lead into brilliantly friendly nights, and with Great Yarmouth and the gorgeous Norfolk Broads just a stone's throw from town, you're perfectly set up to keep things as cool, chic and grown-up, or as cheeky and carefree as you like!
Marvellously quaint and steeped in history, it's almost impossible to not feel classy among the steeples, spires and gothic surrounds of Norfolk's leading lady, which makes it just perfect for a swish getaway with the girls. From the cathedral and castle to trendy bars and clubs, award-winning eateries and stylish boutiques, the rich cultural town oozes style and brings an effortless blend of warm-hearted charm and vibrant nightlife to your Norwich hen do. Mouthwatering dining, afternoon tea and a cool exterior mixed with some serious sass, a whole heap of shopping and a cheeky cosmopolitan or three! And with a fab selection of activities, thriving music and festival scene, and gorgeous accommodation set in the heart of the ancient market town, Norwich has girls' weekend written all over it!
As Norwich's own Mother Hen herself would tell you, not only is variety the spice of life, but it's all about enjoying 'everything in moderation', ladies! And between the beautiful East Anglian countryside and cobbled city streets bursting with swanky stores, restaurants and bars, hen weekends in Norwich can be as moderate, indulgent and fancy free as you want!
Work on those spaghetti arms, wiggle your hips and learn some sexy new moves at a top dance session, or grab the girls, get into line and work it like Beyoncé with some pop party mayhem! Norwich proudly stands tall as England's first designated UNESCO city of literature, so why not get into the cultural groove with a cheeky life drawing class? (we're sure we'd have paid more attention if art had been taught like that at school!). If it's time to wake everybody up in true 'GI Jane girl-power' style, then some go-karting, paintball and action on the high ropes should do the trick! Then lie back, relax and refresh aching bodies with some heavenly pampering at a top spa. And maybe treat yourself to a manicure afterwards (everything in moderation, after all..)
Norwich is a dream destination for hens who like to shop! The place is absolutely full to bursting with everything from vintage boutiques and designer labels to the ever faithful high street stores we all probably visit far too often (just us?) The striking cathedrals and medieval churches makes for a brilliantly unique backdrop, the fab open air market has been running since the Normans caught the shopping bug back in 1071 and with a fab café culture winding through the streets, you'll have plenty of opportunity to plan your next foray over a frothy latté! Head to the High Street for the biggest collection of national department stores outside of London, or make your way to the Castle Mall or Chapelfield shopping centres for a choice of more than 150 mainstream brands, cafés and restaurants. The Norwich Lanes are a hive of gorgeous medieval alleys perfect for seeking out vintage buys, quirky gifts and small independent boutiques, and if you want to soak up some of the city's culture and history in-between spending sprees, then Elm Hill and Timberhill are the sophisticated choice for you!
With a brilliant array of live entertainment, trendy bars, friendly pubs, tasty restaurants and crazy clubs, when evening lands in Norwich the lively city knows how to party! Catch a show at the Theatre Royal, let loose with some traditional karaoke fun, or head to the Prince of Wales Road, where the main hub of the nightlife brings a Norwich hen party into its dazzling own! Why not hop in a limo for a swish ride between bars or treat the girls to a healthy dose of the giggles at a top comedy club? A murder mystery dinner is great for adding a unique touch to your Norwich hen nights, and when it's time to let your hair down on the dance floor, make your way to the hottest clubs in town with our fab VIP guestlisting!
