A Guide To Your Blackpool Hen Weekend

Where to Drink in Blackpool

Hens flock to Blackpool from all over the country, and when you check out the healthy amount of bars and clubs, it's easy to see why!

You'll never fit it all in, so making sure you know the best of the bunch is ess-hen-tial. There are cabaret clubs steeped in history, as well as bars on the trendy side of things along the seafront.

The Promenade area is a great place to start, spend and finish your night. It's the busiest street and where you'll find all the best bars and nightclubs. Champagne is a staple from one of the luxury establishments, then move onto any one of The Promenade's cocktail bars for cheaper deals.

You're up North, it's impossible to go wrong. And, if in doubt, just ask someone. The atmosphere is always friendly and fun.

Sights & Sounds

Sights - You can't come to Blackpool without a hen party selfie in front of the world-famous Blackpool Tower and with GoHen you can even go all the way to the top to witness the incredible views from the Tower Eye. And it wouldn't be right to leave without visiting the Blackpool Pleasure Beach with thrilling rides like the appropriately named Big One (the fastest and tallest rollercoaster in Europe).

Sounds - Club Domain is a high-tech party palace with LED screens, incredible light shows and the fabulous Funktion=One sound system playing top tunes and disco classics that'll have the girls screaming "I know this one!" And with Blackpool's top DJs, Flamingo is a brilliant place to party with a range of nights to suit every music taste. So whether you're a house fanatic, an indie hipster or a wannabe rock star there's something for everyone on these neon-lit tiles.

Best Shopping Spots

Forties to Noughties - If you love all things vintage, this fab boutique has classic designer clothes, shoes and bags.
Houndshill Shopping Centre - Blackpool's biggest shopping centre is packed with familiar high street names and top brands.
Freeport Fleetwood - Just along the coast at Fleetwood you'll find the Freeport outlet shopping village with top names at fantastic prices.

Getting Around Blackpool

Getting around Blackpool really couldn't be easier, you can comfortably leave the car parked up for the weekend, there are good bus links throughout the town as well as the famous trams along the seafront. Alternatively you can step into horse and carriages for a traditional seaside experience.

Hen Days

Cheeky, brash and often ballsy Blackpool has plenty to offer lasses who like a laugh. Treat the hen to a Dominatrix Lesson where the whole group will learn about spanking, shoe worship and other kinky games, you'll even have a naked male slave to practise on. Or, if you're looking to get energetic, you can get back to the 80's in a themed dance class or try a sexy Burlesque or Pole Dance Lesson.

Hen Nights

Blackpool is a nonstop party town, from the massive choice of bars and restaurants to the town's hottest nightclubs. But be aware that things get busy quickly, if you don't fancy wasting your evening queuing to get in, we'll arrange Guest List Nightclub Entry to the biggest and best clubs for your whole party. Or you can arrive in style in a Boogie Bus. From Restaurant Reservations to Comedy Clubs, we'll help you plan the perfect night so all you'll need to worry about is which cocktails to sample.

Quickfire Blackpool FAQs

Is a night out expensive in Blackpool?

Blackpool is – famously – an affordable party town, being a popular choice for hens and other partiers for decades. Compared to some of the UK's other party hotspots like Newcastle, Liverpool, London and Bournemouth, it's very very cheap indeed.

Which part of Blackpool has the best nightlife?

The North Pier holds on to the busiest bars and nightclubs – you can find anything to suit your hen tastes, from Bavarian-themed beer halls to cabaret shows and bouncing nightclubs. The town is awash with vibrant cocktail bars, too, so you'll be spoilt for choice on the bride's big weekend away.

How to get to Blackpool via train?

Blackpool's main train station is Blackpool North which offers regular services to several major cities, including London (3 hours away), Liverpool (1 hour away) and Manchester (1 hour away). The station is only a 10-minute walk to the North Pier, so you can hop off and head straight to where the party's at.

When is the best time to visit Blackpool?

We would recommend visiting during the summer season from May to August, as this is the best time for sunshine and beach activities. You'll also find that Blackpool's summer programme is full and there's something going on every week – from rebellious rock 'n' roll festivals to awesome dance, food and drink fests – chances are that you'll find yourself in the middle of one!

How many days should I visit Blackpool for?

According to the GoHen stats machine, more than half of our hens (54%) book Blackpool for 3 or more days. Come on, you can't venture to this bouncing party town and not enjoy all it has to offer – particularly in the summer months when you get the chance to top up those tans.

Nightlife

Famed for it's cheeky, brash and sassy nightlife, Blackpool is a huge hit with stag and hen dos alike for a reason: it's fab! Its nonstop party atmosphere, which lacks pretention, is just what you need to give the bride-to-be that incredible send-off into marital bliss. So, c'mon ladies, grab the girls and head to what is frequently dubbed the 'Nightlife Capital of the North'! On a Blackpool hen do it's always time to partaaaaayyy!

Blackpool Centre

All of Blackpool's biggest and best nightlife venues are condensed into a compact zone so you and the girls will not only get a saving on the purse, not having to fork out for expensive taxi journeys, you'll also save those feet from miles of walking in those stunning, but slightly uncomfortable heels! There's plenty to suit all tastes in this bubbly, vibrant and downright fab party town.

Lytham St. Anne's

A short taxi journey out of Blackpool, Lytham St. Anne's is certainly worth a trip if you're looking to escape the masses for an evening. The crowd this end is a little more glam as it's where the entertainers from the shows come to unwind and escape Blackpool's party crowd. With bars and pubs aplenty, you can certainly have just as good a night!

Shopaholics

Houndshill Shopping Centre

What's a trip away with the girls without indulging in little shopping trip?! The Houndshill Shopping Centre is the perfect starting point, boasting over sixty of the best high street stores and there are also loads of eateries to pick from.

Location: Victoria Street, FY1 4HU

The Regent

Set in an impressive 1920's cinema, The Regent is a bustling hive of all things retro with antiques, crafts and vintage clothing spread across fifty stalls over three floors. There's a lot of browsing to be had here, ladies!

Location: Church Street, FY1 3NY

Freeport Fleetwood

A little bit out of town, but totally worth the trip, Freeport Fleetwood is where you can find all your favourite high-end names at discount prices. "Grab the hen mobile, Jane, we're going on a road trip!"

Hotels

"Well this hotel is perfect, but it's forty miles out of town... this one's in town but it looks like a prison... and that one, well, is it possible to give somewhere no stars?" Finding a hotel which meets all your needs can be a right old faff. Luckily, here at GoHen, we've trawled the town finding the best places about for a great stay on your Blackpool hen party weekend away.

Restaurants

Just as finding accommodation can be time consuming, not planning a restaurant is an even bigger mistake! Many hens make the classic mistake of not booking in advance and then they find themselves being turned away left, right and centre. "What do you mean you can't cater for thirteen of us, three of who are vegan and two who are gluten free, at one minute's notice on a busy Saturday night?!"

Again, we can help with that one. GoHen will book a meal at a fantastic restaurant, so you don't need to worry, giving you more time to concentrate on the important things on your Blackpool hen weekend: celebrating the bride's big send-off in style. We'll arrange:

  • A booking at a fab restaurant
  • Reserved table
  • Pre-ordered meals to save you time
  • Pre-paid dining so you don't have to split the bill at the end

Transport

With everything so close together you'll be able to dance to pretty much every destination. But if you feel like giving those feet a rest, particularly after an evening of partying, the town operates a handy, easy to navigate tram system, so you can hop on and off with ease. There are also plenty of buses or you can just as easily hop in a taxi! There are also horse drawn carriages along the seafront's Golden Mile.

Blackpool is a city that simply lives to entertain its visitors - and you know they're getting something right when it's consistently voted the UK's most popular seaside destination! Your bride to be will most certainly leave on a high and the whole group is undoubtedly going to enjoy a whole lot of good, old-fashioned fun! Some refer to Blackpool as the North's answer to Las Vegas and, apart from the UK climate, it really is a close comparison. We know what we're doing with Blackpool hen parties, so let us do the hard work!

Shop: Blackpool shopping areas & recommendations

You can indulge in some excellent retail therapy in Blackpool. Right in the heart is the Houndshill Shopping Centre which is just a stones throw away from the Promenade. All the main high street stores are here, including Primark, H&M, Debenhams and River Island, and there's also a Food Deck with some great cafes for a break between shopping. Venture outside the centre and explore independent boutique shops, such as Blueberries on Topping Street which has a great selection of garments and footwear. For your hen party, Blackpool really does have it all!

Stay: The best accommodation in Blackpool

Blackpool's best accommodation is in and around the city centre, which is why we've found the best, hen-friendly lodgings a mere stone's throw from great restaurants, bars and clubs. Our 3 star hotels are a great, basic place to rest your head at the end of a big night and they're fantastic value for money on your Blackpool hen do. When to visit Blackpool

Blackpool has a huge annual events calendar, with shows, concerts, festivals and special events all year round. Known as the Dance Capital of the World there's the fantastic Blackpool annual Dance Festival in May every year, before locals celebrate the British Armed Forces with a week of events in June. In July there's the Comedy Carpet Live with great comedy shows all weekend and in September there's the World Firework Championships taking to the stage with amazing displays in the skies. From August until November the Blackpool Illuminations remain lit, the greatest free light show on earth. Whatever time of the year you visit there's bound to be something on- mix in a bit of event sightseeing with some fantastic activities and you'll have an unforgettable Blackpool hen party.

Getting Around Blackpool

Although Blackpool isn't a big place, it's worth considering how you and your group will get around and to and from your accommodation and activities. This town still retains a charming tramway which dates back from the Victorian era and can be used today! Sadly, most of the trams which run along the seafront are modern but once in a while, it's possible to catch a real, old-fashioned carriage in the summer months. For a real blast from the past, you can even travel in style in a 'landau' or classic horse drawn carriage or failing this, a slightly more speedy bus service. We would suggest donkey rides but these beasts don't tend to be particularly reliable...
