A Guide To Your Llangollen Hen Weekend

Where to Drink in Llangollen

Shhhh. Hear that sound? That’s the sound of beer sploshing into a nicely cooled pint glass after you’ve had an adrenaline-fuelled day around the beautiful surrounding of Llangollen. Sounds pretty good, right?! Well, that could be your reality at one of the many, many pubs around the picturesque town.
Down by the River Dee is a great place to start if you’re planning to make a night of it (pub crawl, anyone?). A refreshing G&T or sparkling cider – oooooh yeah! Bridge Street is also brimming with traditional taverns, so whatever your tipple, you’re covered in this quaint hen-gem. Basically, wherever you are, you’ll always be close to a pub. You might just want to move there forever!

Sights & Sounds

Sights
It's not every day you get to see castle ruins that were once the welsh equivalent of 'Winterfell' from Game of Thrones - that's exactly what you'll find if you make the trek to Dinas Bran, or 'Crows Castle' as it's more commonly known. This can be a bit of a hike, but on a sunny day it's a hugely enjoyable walk with some stunning views of Llangollen beneath you - and let's be honest, no Thrones fan is going to be able to resist roaring 'winter is coming' at the top of their lungs when they reach the ruins!

Sounds
Llangollen's bubbly young professionals all enjoy kicking back and relaxing in The Sun. This pub features live music most nights, and we're tempted to say that this fun venue is Llangollen's best kept secret. Evenings here always seem to carry on until late, and this spirited pub is always full of laughter once the music's started - plus men from the countryside can be seriously dishy, just look at Matt Baker...

Best Shopping Spots

There's a vintage craze sweeping Wales at the moment, and it's certainly reached Llangollen. This quiet town is full of twenty-something's that look as if they've gone into their parent's lofts to dig out the best bits of fashion they can find from the 70's, 80's and 90's to create a unique look for them. This style is seriously cool, and best of all, it's astoundingly cheap. It's time to jump aboard the second-hand hype train hens!

Honey Pots - This delightfully cute little shop sells lovely gifts and hand crafted pottery goods that'll look absolutely lush in your living room back home.

Getting Around Llangollen

Llangollen is rather petite as a town, so you'll probably do most of your exploring via the cost-effective medium of walking! However, for those moments where you just can't be bothered, there's a bus network that'll take you where you need to go. If you fancy visiting Wrexham or any of the other surrounding towns there are buses in and out of Llangollen as well!

Hen Days

So what exactly does a hen party get up to in Llangollen? Well, girls who consider themselves thrill-seekers will be happy, because this part of the world is famous for the kind of white-knuckle action that'd make even the most macho blokes squeal.
