What is a Festival-Themed Hen Party?✨

A festival-themed hen party is a glamping weekend taken up a notch.

Think Glastonbury or Coachella, but with your bride tribe!

The three vital ingredients are:

  • The Music – think live band, local DJ, or a silent disco
  • The Tents – could be yurts, bell tents, safari tents, huts, tipis, cabins, pods, or geodomes
  • The Activities – these can include everything from sack races to creative workshops like setting up a glitter face-painting station

Pick and mix them, and you’ll get a memorable mini-festival dedicated to the bride-to-be!

You could also host the mini-fest yourself if your accommodation has a garden big enough for a couple of tents, a BBQ, and a large table/space for a picnic blanket.

Or with the right preparation, party decorations, and feng shui, you could even bring the mini-fest indoors and spend the night in DIY blanket forts in your own living room (bonus points if you’ve got a fireplace!).

If you’re hosting your own mini-festival, you’ll need…

Tents

  • You can ask the hens to bring their own tents
  • You can buy or borrow a tent
  • You can hire yurts or large tents from a professional company

Fire Pit

  • There isn’t a better feeling than gathering everyone around the campfire on a starry night and toasting some marshmallows over a fire pit

BBQ

  • You have a lot of choices when it comes to finding the right BBQ for your party. If you don’t own a BBQ, we recommend going for an eco-friendly grill or at least using eco-friendly charcoal

Drinks

  • As if you’d forget!
  • Whether you’d go for a case of cans or a bottle of wine, bringing drinks is a great way to kick-start the celebrations with some hilarious hen party drinking games
  • Don’t forget your XL cooler bag to keep things fresh and cool (especially if you’re planning on mixing some homemade cocktails, too)

Speakers

  • Since you can’t plug Google or Alexa into a field, it’s best to bring your own outdoor speakers and make sure to charge them before heading over!
  • If you have immediate neighbours, you might want to consider buying/hiring headsets, making a party playlist and throwing your own silent disco!

Lights

  • Light up the night with fairy lights, LED garden lights, glow sticks, and paper lanterns, which are an easy way to set the party atmosphere and have picture-perfect Insta backgrounds

Outdoor Cinema

  • This is optional, but you can set up your own outdoor cinema and screen the bride-to-be’s favourite movie under the stars. Bring the popcorn and cosy throws!

Activities

If you’re heading to one of our hen-friendly glamping sites or our Hen-Fest weekends, a lot will be provided, but you’ll also need…

Festival Hen Do Decorations✨

Hen do decorations

If you’re throwing the bride-to-be a festival-themed hen do, we’d recommend anything chic, floral, and boho – we’re talking…

Most glamping sites have a communal area which can be turned into:

  • A chill-out zone with bean bags, macrame hangings and vintage rugs
  • A party area with a dance floor where you can dance the night away
  • An activity area where you can organise a creative workshop or cocktail mixing class

If you’re throwing the mini-fest in your own garden, you can…

  • Use the suggestions above to create the different ‘stages’ of your festival
  • Make your own signposts pointing to the different activity zones
  • Print out the festival’s itinerary on flyers and hand them out ahead of the weekend
  • Set up a DIY photo booth to capture the party’s best moments
  • Hire a pop-up mobile bar or build a drink station and decorate it with a boho balloon arch to make things feel more official

Festival-Themed Party Outfits✨

Festival-themed hen party outfits

Like any other special occasion, festivals demand their own dress code.

And whilst you may not find any use for your favourite high heels in nature, you can still rock a fun, comfy and boho-chic outfit while looking cute AF on your mini-fest!

Bring all the hen party classics like:

Mix them with anything you might wear to a summer festival, like tinsel fringe vests, those signature flowy dresses, hippie denim jackets, comfy footwear, and you’ll be all set to go.

If you don’t know where to start, you can explore Boohoo’s festival outfits and New Look’s festival clothing which boast everything you need to refresh your wardrobe with the iconic 70s style!

Have a browse through our GoHen Shop which boasts a load of other bridal decorations you can use to customise the bride-to-be’s outdoor party and make all the hens feel fab!

Festival Goodie Bags✨

Festival themed goody bags

If you really want to prepare everyone for the weekend, think about what you wish you’d brought to a festival and pop it in a goodie bag.

These are a fun way to thank your guests for coming and provide them with some festival essentials.

Pack each bag with useful items like:

Festival Food Ideas✨

Toasting marshmallows on a firepit

We all know that finding food at a festival can literally feel like you’re on a hunt, but with the right planning and preparation, yours won’t be anything like that.

If you’re heading over to a remote glampsite, it’s best to do a shopping run en route to stock up on:

  • Fruit & veg
  • Meat & burgers
  • Buns & bread
  • Snacks
  • Juice (for mixers!)
  • Marshmallows
  • Bamboo skewers
  • Floral paper plates
  • Wooden cutlery sets
  • Mason jars & party cups (for cocktails!!)

FYI – most of our Hen-Fest packages come with their own BBQ chefs, woodfired pizzas and food hampers to really elevate the festival food on your big weekend.

Games & Activities✨

Silent disco hen party festival activity

A hen celebration won’t be complete without some hilarious games and activities!

Here are some activity ideas that will guarantee you an awesome time on your weekend:

  • Silent Disco – Don your headsets, play your favourite tunes, and enjoy a disco in the wild! Why not have a lip-sync battle or a dance-off?
  • Mobile Yoga Class – If you’ve spent the night under the stars, it’s only proper that you start the new day with a sun salutation, right?
  • Mobile Pamper Party  Perfect for helping the soon-to-be-bride shake off the wedding planning stress.
  • Butlers In the Buff – A hilarious addition to any hen weekend – once you see the bride-to-be’s face blushing at the sight of the hunky stripper, you’ll thank us!
  • Live acoustic band & hot tub hire (contact us and we can provide more details)

It’s important to note that not all glamping sites allow certain activities, hot tubs, live music, or strippers/butlers in the buff, so it’s best to check in advance or book with us as we’ve already made agreements with suppliers and can meet your group’s party needs!

Festival-Themed Hen Do FAQs✨

How Many Friends Can I Invite to a Festival-Themed Hen Do?

The bride-to-be can invite as many friends as they want to!

As with any accommodation, different glamp sites have different capacities, so it’s best to start looking once you know your rough group size.

Most bell tents/yurts sleep between 2-4 guests and most glamping sites boast 4-6 of those on average, so there are plenty of options for the festival-loving hen groups out there.

Is a Festival-Themed Hen Party Expensive?

The cost can vary greatly depending on the activities, location, and number of guests.

Our 2-day packages cost £250 per person, on average, but if you were to plan and organise your entire weekend and book the site and the activities separately, you should expect this number to rise.

Don’t Delay, Enquire Today!

If you book with GoHen, we can take care of the planning, collect all the payments, and organise your itinerary while you pick out your boho dresses and get ready to party under the stars.

All it takes is a small deposit so we can book your dates – we don’t need to know your group size or preferred activities immediately, and you can make changes on our amazing app later on.

You can leave it all to us!

And there you have it – the ultimate guide to throwing an unforgettable festival-themed hen party.

From festival outfit ideas and decorations to food options and goodie bags, we hope these tips inspire you to create an unforgettable hen party for the festival-loving bride-to-be.

Remember, the key to a great weekend is to embrace the free-spirited vibes, let loose, and most importantly, have fun!

So, gather your tribe, put on your flower crowns, and get ready to dance the night away under the stars.

Happy planning! 🐔✨
