if you're going … GoHen!

After all this unpredictable weather of late it is still believed this summer will be a great success. Britain will be celebrating many special events this summer like the Queens Jubilee on the first weekend of June, at the end of June is Armed Forces Day, and major sporting events occur like the football European Championships and the Olympics.

These events will be celebrated all across the UK, but many town and cities will be celebrating other events too. That is why this summer Bristol has to be high on your list of destinations to visit this summer, especially for a hen weekend with the girls. As well as these national events to celebrate you’ll have many events to see and participate in during your Bristol hen party.

Bristol Balloon Fiesta

This is one of Bristol’s most famous events and attracts thousands of visitors every year. Last year the Red Arrows made an appearance to light up the skies above Bristol and will be sure to return again this year. The fiesta is on all weekend and would be ideal for you and the girls to attend because as well as balloon entertainment, there is live music, food, drink and much more. All you and the girls have to do is sit back and enjoy the moment.

Harbour Festival

Usually the sun comes out during the Harbour Festival and helps bring in all the crowds. If you and the girls are into a bit of dance, music and entertainment then this is a wonderful festival for you to visit. By choosing your Bristol hen weekend during this festival it will certainly give you and the girls the party feeling as the harbour side comes alive with the best of Bristol’s creative arts.

The Bristol Festival

The Bristol Festival has only been running for a few years but due to its success it will continue. The centre of Bristol and the Harbour side comes to life once again with a selection of bands, stand-up, arts and craft workshops. Once the drinks and beats start flowing, you and the girls will have a fantastic day a head of a top hen night in Bristol.

According to a recent study it’s been announced that a record number of British couples are heading abroad to tie the knot. As well as the unpredictable British weather, it’s believed that couples are trying to avoid the spiralling costs. The average cost of a wedding has now topped the £18,500 mark and will be expected rise even more as the Church of England will add around 40 per cent to the current amount they charge in January. Around 80,000 Brits are thought to go elsewhere in the next 12 months as they believe they can make big savings.

Only a few years ago it was a thought that a wedding abroad would cost much more but now with internet wedding companies many couples are going online to look at package deals that include the venue hire, wedding ceremony, marriage certificate as well as the wedding cake and flowers.

The internet has also helped in many other parts of the wedding planning. A top hen weekend can now be booked via the internet with packages that include your hotel, transport, day activities and evening entertainment. To avoid spiralling costs but still getting the luxury, booking on the internet seems to be the best way to get more for your money. If you go to GoHen.com, you’ll be able to view a host of fantastic hen party packages available all across Europe. Working with the best hotels, activities and evening venues, there’s no reason to look elsewhere.

A hotel in Blackpool has been closed down with immediate effect by the Blackpool magistrates after an application for closure was made by the town hall. Are the April showers dampening your spirits?

Apr 26, 2012 Author: A | Filed under: News

The UK has been treated to major downpours in all areas, ironically just after areas across England were hit with a hose pipe ban. Today and into the weekend, the UK has been hit with further weather warnings as more heavy rain, hail and thunder will continue. But unfortunately it doesn’t stop there; the torrential rain will persist and carry on into the first couple of weeks in May.

According to the Met Office and the Environmental agency, rivers are beginning to swell and some will be at the risk of bursting its banks. Many roads and dry land across the UK will also be prone to flooding and will cause absolute chaos.

But don’t let this dampened your spirits, summer is on its way (hopefully), and if you’re taking part in any hen weekend watersports you won’t be affected, if anything you’ll be laughing! It’s obvious people are growing frustrated with the constant unpredictable weather and due to this, European hen weekends are on the rise as hen groups are wanting to escape the bad weather.

With the May bank holiday, Spring bank holiday and the Queens Jubilee approaching, this is the perfect time to get the girls together and hop over to the continent and enjoy some fun in the sun. Whether it’s for a last minute hen weekend or just a girls weekend away, it’s time to do something spontaneous and get something booked. Why not check out our top 10 European hen weekend packages and prepare for the glorious sunshine and a refreshing beverage in hand, instead of dodging the rain at home.

Cabin crew trained to chop!

Hong Kong airlines have announced that they have fully trained their cabin crew in the martial art of Wing Chun. Wing Chun is the first martial art to have been created by a female and has been practised in China for hundreds of years.

Wing Chun was brought in due to the fact that the skill of striking and grappling moves can be used easily in small confined spaces, which is ideal for an airplane. Before, many female cabin crew felt they couldn’t handle large passengers, but now with the skill they’ve practised, they stand a much better chance.

The airlines have announced that they’ve brought this training in to help the cabin crew against unruly behaved passengers on their flights and deal with disruptive passengers in a more effective way. The basic course only lasts 3 hours but the course is compulsory for all staff. The staff are also encouraged to further their training if it helps give them more confidence.

According to the airlines deputy general manager, there are around 3 airline incidents every week which is due to disruptive passengers, only recently one of the cabin crew had to use their new skills on a drunk passenger who’s behaviour and actions were getting out of hand.
