24 Best Brighton Cocktail Bars

24 Best Brighton Cocktail Bars

by

Brighton is without doubt one of the UK’s party capitals, it also happens to have some of the UK’s trendiest cocktail bars and cocktails are back. Forget nasty giant pitchers of neon-pink paint strippers, we’re talking about true master craftsmen and women, concocting gorgeous drinks in some of the South Coast’s best bars.

But don’t take our word for it, get down to “London by the sea” and sample these 24 must-visit cocktail bars on your next Brighton hen do.

The Copper Rooms

76 Preston Street, Brighton, BN1 2HG

The Copper Rooms is the latest bouncing baby from the people behind infamous Brighton bars like The Gin Tub and The Rum Cage, so it’s no surprise that this cocktail bar is the stuff of your gin-induced fantasies. There’s bizarre monkey portraits on the walls, stylish under-bar lighting and the occasional bottle of bubbly with sparklers strapped to the side… And you’ll love it all, because why wouldn’t you?

Maggie Mae’s

69-71 Preston Street, Brighton, BN1 2HG

What we love about Maggie Mae’s is just how laid back everything feels. There’s no need to get dressed to the nines here, and nobody would expect you to, here the focus is on good food and even better cocktails. Whether you fancy ordering one of the classics, or choosing something a little more unusual like a Bourbon Sour, mixing Makers Mark bourbon, fresh lemon juice, sugar and bitters shaken with an egg white. And if that doesn’t get your pulse racing, nothing will.

Come here for… A genuinely laid-back atmosphere
Stay for… Classic cocktails done right!

The Cocktail Shack

34 Regency Square, Brighton, BN1 2FJ

Best. Shack. EVER! This fabulous cocktail bar comes in the totally unusual bambooed-up shape of a seaside surf shack, but it is NOT a tiki bar and we won’t hear that said. Not on our blog. No siree. Not that we’ve got anything against the humble tiki bar, but The Cocktail Shack is just so much more than that, with seriously creative cocktails like the Charlie and the Cocktail Factory and the Gettin’ Figgy with It to satisfy your curiosity.

Merkaba

Merkaba, My Brighton, 17 Jubilee Street, Brighton, BN1 1GE

From the off, Merkaba state that they truly believe there’s “a cocktail for every occasion”. We couldn’t agree more, and from the looks of their jam-packed menu, they do genuinely have a cocktail for every occasion whether you’re drowning your sorrows in a Corden Bleu Sidecar or welcoming the night with a Bee-Keeper’s Punch. Which is certainly one way to keep your buzz (we’ll show ourselves the door).

The Mesmerist

1-5 Prince Albert Street, Brighton, BN1 1HE

If The Great Gatsby were to party in Brighton (and why wouldn’t he?) then this is where we like to think he’d order his Tom Collins! The Mesmerist is like an old-school speakeasy where you can wear that flapper dress with pride and go back to a time where men were men and women were HARD drinkers. That is judging by the surprisingly stiff cocktails within these four vintage-loving walls, not that we’re likely to hear you complaining!

Si senorita, The Lounge Bar stays open until the small hours to hydrate Brighton’s party-loving locals with tasty cocktail creations that even our very experienced eye has never seen the like of.
