Wedding fashion shows, demonstrations in styling, live entertainment and lots of tantalisingly delicious tasters. But it gets better… It’s FREE.
So ahead of the events we caught up with CWE’s Editor and all-round wedding guru Hannah Faulder who gave us her top 10 tips for attending a wedding show.
The Top 10
Narrow Things Down
Have a chat with your partner before the show and make sure you have the basics in place so you can talk to suppliers, a potential date, prefered location, overall style. You can then have more informed conversations and get better info.
Dress Well
No, not the new boots you’ve been dying to take out the box. It could be a loooooonnnnng day so weary comfy flat shoes.
Wedding Email Address
Set up a separate email address to give out to wedding suppliers so you can keep all your emails in one easy to manage account without cluttering your regular inbox.
Entourage
Decide who you’ll take with you, it might not even be your partner, perhaps your bridesmaids or mum are better sounding boards for the day?
Homework
Who doesn’t love making a good list? Be prepared by making a list of which types of suppliers you want to talk to that way you won’t waste time but will target the areas you most want to get sorted.
List It
Make a checklist of the type of suppliers you’re looking for on the day. If you’re in the early stages of planning, this might be your venue or photographer. Later down the line, you might want to check out florists, cake designers and DJs.
Get social
Do some Facebook stalking, check out and follow the event organisers and suppliers. You can then narrow down which ones you want to speak to and also see any special offers to get a bargain.
Book It!
If you love something, book it! Don’t wait, there will be lots of other couples some of them might have the same date as you so best to book it now before they do. However, if you’re not sure don’t panic and don’t feel forced to book if you’re undecided.
Plan Ahead
Pre-register for the event, it’ll save you time on the day. Also, arrive early to make the most of the (at CWE Wedding Shows we’re giving away wedding planners to the first 100 couples through the door).
Be Organised
Take your diary with you and make appointments. Also, hang on to all brochures and literature you receive on the day so you don’t forget who’s who and what’s what.
Enjoy!
Planning wedding really is great fun. You can sip bubbly, sample cake, take photos in the photo booths and talk to other couples to get tips and advice. There’s nothing quite like a wedding show!
