A Guide To Your New York Hen Weekend

Star Bars

Bars in New York

Nitecap - If you've love US sitcoms and have wondered what it would be like to hang out at a cool, laidback New York bar the Nitecap is it. You'll feel like you're waiting to meet the mother of Ted's kids or just hanging out with Friends. Nitecap is boho, NYC cool at its finest.

Bar Hugo - This is where to go if you want to create a magical memory the bride-to-be and the other hens will never forget. Sat on top of Hotel Hugo, Bar Hugo sit's on the rooftop and has simply the most incredible view looking out across the river and over the New York skyline. Sunset, with a chilled cocktail in hand.... Perfect.

Mulberry Project - This is New York city at it's trendiest. Great music and art as well as fantastic cocktails, It's bars like the Mulberry Project that have made NYC perhaps the great cocktail city in the world. The club is underground but does have a funky back yard with yet more amazing cocktails. Bottoms up!

Best Bites

Empire Diner - It doesn't get much more New York than this, you might as well be living a seen from one of your favourite movies. Also if you're really want to dine like a local then you have to go “downtown” and eat at a real New York diner and in a city of amazing sites, the Empire is a true icon. 10th Avenue.

Crif Dogs - Another New York institution is the hot dog (“hawt dawg” in NY speak). You simply cannot go to the Big Apple and not try dog. Rather than just trying a roadside vendor, head to Crif Dogs for possibly the finest dogs in the tri-state area. Diggs Av, North 7th St.

Sights & Sounds

Where do we even begin?!? One of the most exciting and vibrant cities in the world, there is just so much to choose from, if we had to pick a top 5 then every hen party should take time to squeeze in? Time Square by night, Central Park by day, Statue of Liberty, Broadway, and Grand Central Station. But time is of the essence so plan wisely as you really will struggle to fit everything in that you want to do.

If you're looking for a club with a difference head to Le Bain at the Standard Hotel, it's seriously swanky, with incredible night time views, roof garden and swimming pool but its not cheap. Space is built on the roots of its big brother in Ibiza. Bold, brash and full of energy this really will create a great soundtrack for your New York hen party.

If you want something a little different then we'd recommend one of New York's burlesque clubs, Nurse Bettie burlesque is perfect for “burly newbies” and serves amazing cocktails. While the hilarious Wiggle Room offer more laughs and sexy fun. If you're looking for laughs with legendary status then the New York Comedy Club is a legendary venue.

Top of the Shops

Best Shops in New York

New York Vintage - Set out like a Broadway dressing Room, this fantastic vintage shop is like the funkiest dressing up box ever. Shoes, hats, bags, jewellery all with a flavour of the city that never sleeps. West 25th St.
Artists and Fleas - Possibly one of the coolest places to shop on the planet, an incredible mix of artisan, handmade and second hand clothes, jewellery, bags, shoes, music, hats and more... North 7 St.
Macy's - New York's most famous shop is Macy's a department store on a simply gigantic scale. Stocks everything from top fashion designers to the humble egg cup.

Girls About Town - Getting around New York...

New York is huge, thankfully the public transport system that was unusable in the 90's in now in fantastic condition. Much like the London underground, the Metro was once considered dangerous, these days it is tourist friendly but like any big city you should still keep your wits about you.
The best way to navigate it all is with a Metro Card which allows unlimited journeys during a set period much like an UK Oyster Card.

Hen Days

If you are taking a break from shopping and looking for a little something to do then the time of year will play a big part. If you're lucky enough to be in New York for the winter, the skating rink in Central Park is quite a spectacle and a chance to get your skates on.
Summer days a ride on the river down to the Statue of Liberty is really interesting, however it can take a lot of time if you're trying to pack a lot into a short weekend. There are a number of celebrity and movie tours around the city, or you can simply grab a movie map, Metro Card and a camera and hunt down your own movie and TV locations.

Hen Nights

A New York hen party will find a city that has a vibrancy and rhythm unlike any other city in the world, this really is the city that never sleeps and there is so much partying to try and fit into one weekend. Times Square and China Town are great places to be at night, and then of course there is Broadway, the beating heart of US theatre.
