Wild About Zimbabwe is a complete 3-day mobile safari package in Hwange National Park, "the Jewel of Africa". The trip includes two guided game activities per day and you’ll have the opportunity to build your own package completely tailored to the bride-to-be’s tastes: game drives, bush walks, horseback safari and night drives.
Hwange is particularly rich in wildlife with over 30,000 elephants estimated to live within the reserve and travel on a migratory trail believed to have been used by elephant herds for thousands of years. These impressive animals can be viewed from most places in the park and can often be seen from a very short distance. Through the hard work of dedicated rangers, the number of elephants in the park has grown from just 1000 when the reserve was first established.
The National Park is home to a further 106 species of animal, as well as 400 species of birds to watch through eager binoculars.
Cheetahs, gazelle, hyenas, zebras, giraffes and birds can be found within the reserve along with The Big Five (lions, elephants, rhinoceros, leopards and buffalo). Being Zimbabwe’s largest National Park, you’re likely to tick a fair few species from your bucket-list must-sees. Pumped water holes around the reserve mean animals have access to water all year round and congregate here for some much-needed hydration. This makes spotting easier whilst the animals are still in their natural habitat. Perfect for a photograph or two (hundred)!
The hugely diverse animal population along with 100s of species of trees and plants makes it one of the most varied safari environments in the world.
A mobile camp gives the added luxury of being able to move to where the game is and the camps are relocated several times a season to situate them in the most densely visited areas and watering holes to maximise wildlife encounters. Meals are all enjoyed out in the open air so guests can make the most of the African skies and incredible sunsets. While being functional the Meru tents do come with fantastic facilities for guests to feel like real African adventurers.
This is a trip all about Location, Location, Location. Long forgotten will be wedding planning stress as you embark on your guided safari activities – gawping at game and ogling over beautiful skies, awe-inspiring sunsets and wildlife to make you WOW. OMG moments galore and the strengthening of friendships over the “glamping” safari experience fit for an exceptional bride-to-be.
Often the best time to make the most of the bush is in the cool mornings when the “locals” are more active. Safari guests will be woken just before light to enjoy the unforgettable view of the savannah sunrise as the first rays of dawn touch the eastern horizon and drift across the plains sleepily bringing Hwange to life. You will hear the calls of the animals as they rise, during an incredible dawn chorus which depicts a rich and vast musical landscape unique to the incredible African bush.
Cameras should also be at the ready for the equally spectacular sunsets. In fact, your camera will never be out of reach as you capture memories that really will last a lifetime. There is nothing quite like a night or dawn on the savannah. This really is a hen weekend like no other and those lazy hens who love a good lie-in will have their minds changed with incredible dawns to help create those special moments to share with the bride-to-be.
Safari packages can be designed to suit the bride-to-be and her guests with two activities per day and a number of different types of safari activities to choose from;
All of these activities are unforgettable, so it might be hard to pick. Rock, paper, scissors, anyone?! Whatever you choose, it’s guaranteed to be an adventure suited to all nature-loving brides and hens who want to experience the magic of Zimbabwe together for a seriously amazing send-off.
