horse racing - enjoy a day at the fantastic York races, the North's premier racecourse. An afternoon at the races is always a great choice for any hen weekend and the perfect excuse to dust the hats off and get all dressed up, and where better to do that than York. After the 2010 season, York was yet again voted the Best Racecourse in the North by the Racegoers Club – the largest organisation of its kind in British horse racing, making it the 21st time York racecourse has scooped this prestigious award. Harrogate is an ideal base for a weekend at the York races, due to its close proximity to York, fantastic nightlife and great value packages. Records show that there has been racing taking place in York for over 2,000 years, however things are looking slightly different now. As one of Europe's premier tracks, York, hosts some of the UK's biggest meetings and was recently crowned the Flat Racecourse of the Year as well as coming out on top in The Times newspaper survey of all Britain's racecourses. Right in the heart of town, this fantastic venue gives you and the girls the option of dancing the night away to a variety of tunes on the spacious dance floor, relaxing in one of the outdoor areas or enjoying a drink at the bar. spa - take the time to unwind at our wonderfully relaxing health spa and you and the girls will be floating away in no time at all! Visit the Steam Room where high humidity, made gently fragrant with cleansing Eucalyptus, opens pores, penetrates the respiratory system and eases tense muscles. Then have a shower before taking a bracing dip in the Plunge Pool. Towel down and work your way up through the three inter-connecting Hot Room Chambers - Tepidarium (warm), the Calidarium (hot), and the Laconium (hottest) allowing the warmth to continue its therapeutic effect on skin and musculature. Repeat this cycle as often as you wish, then spend half an hour cooling down in the elegant Frigidarium (Relaxation Room) to round off this enjoyable experience.
