Bars and Pubs

Nottingham's nightlife is spread across the city, rather than being clumped in particular streets or districts. While this can make it a little hard for visitors to know where to go, it's great for stumbling upon surprising treats and hidden gems. However, if you want a little direction, many of Nottingham's best nightclubs are found in the area around Upper Parliament Street - St James Street and Friar Lane in particular. The Lace Market has lots of metropolitan pubs, trendy restaurants, and quaint, chic little bistros and cafes. Along the canal front, there are a selection of sophisticated bars and pubs for sipping wine or a local ale in - usually whilst listening to some local talent playing live too.

Nightfall in Nottingham

Nottingham is a city with more to offer than just a few bars though; at night there are many different ways to keep your hens entertained and having fun. There are a plethora of theatres in Nottingham, from the impressive Nottingham Playhouse and the Theatre Royal to the student-run New Theatre if you fancy watching the next bit. There's also a casino for any hens hoping to practice their poker face, as well as a couple of comedy clubs - The Glee Club and Just the Tonic have hosted names like Gina Yashere, Jon Richardson, Josie Long, Shappi Khorsandi, Stewart Francis and Russell Howard.

Getting Around Nottingham

While there are trams and buses available, and offering a good coverage of the city, it's generally very easy to get around Nottingham on foot. Not all of the buses give change, so if you do decide to hop on make sure you've got the right amount. There are taxis, good for travelling in large groups or if you're staying a little bit outside the centre, but it's definitely worth booking in advance, rather than relying on finding an available cab in the city. Luckily all of GoHen's accommodation is close to the nightlife and shopping, so you won't have trouble getting around. However, we can arrange all your transfers for you, if you want that little extra peace of mind.

Night Fever in Nottingham

The live music scene in Nottingham incredible and many of the top clubs dedicate time to showcasing the talents of Nottingham's top acts. With a live music club hosting over 2000 people in one room alone, it's the closest you can get to a festival atmosphere without having to deal with all that icky mud. The vast majority of the clubs have multiple levels, multiple rooms, and multiple bars inside, allowing you and the hens to find everything you're looking for in one venue - Nottingham's premier superclub alone offers six different themed rooms and four bars! There's not one overriding music genre prevalent here, as with house, chart, R 'n' B, dubstep, indie and dance - and of course, there are a few clubs playing your old favourites from the '70s, '80s and '90s. All the clubs are generally hen friendly, too, so grab those cowboy hats and L-plates, ladies!

Nottingham Tipples

Grabbing a few pre-club drinks is an experience in itself in Nottingham, which has a diverse range of unique, distinctive bars. Tantra Lounge and Bar is moody, intimate and seductive, with low leather sofas and enormous beds to lounge on as you sip your drink. The dim lighting and intimate atmosphere add class to an incredibly bewitching bar. And it's no punishment to go to the Pit and Pendulum - the bar may be atmospheric, but the seven deadly sin themed cocktails do wonders. Other fantastic cocktails without the sinful theme are found in the Coco Lounge. Baa Bar and its colourful range of shooters and cocktails is guaranteed to get the party started. For something a little more sedate, try Pitcher and Piano. Built in a church in Lace Market, there are still the stained glass windows and church candles surrounding you as you sample one of their wines or premium beers. And if you'd prefer a pub, stopping in at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a must - it's a contender for the oldest pub in England, so it's as traditional as you get!

Nottingham Bites

There's plenty to tuck in to on your Nottingham hen night! The city has some great international offerings - Iberico in Lace Market has an exceptional tapas range, ideal for sharing amongst a group, Kayal is an unusual take on familiar Indian dishes or Chino Latino for Pan-Asian flavours. Great British food is all around Nottingham too, with the Living Room in the Lace Market focusing on British Fusion options, or Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem providing a great range of quality pub food. For a popular upmarket restaurant, try The Walk, which has a mix of yummy vegetarian options and delectable surf 'n' turf dishes, or Dogma, which serves burgers and classics before it transforms into a bar. If you need a little help deciding, just ask GoHen! We can book you a table in one of our Nottingham venues, finding the right food and price range for you.
