Your guide to hen nights in Cheltenham

Head to Clarence Street, which is packed with great bars and lively nightlife venues, or gather the girls over to Bath Road or Queens Circus, two other fantastic nightlife areas. In between exploring venues and soaking in the vibrant culture of the city, we'd recommend planning some group-pleasing entertainment options, the likes of which you'll find above! How about getting the girls involved in a proper 'whodunit' night with our murder mystery - as well as great food the expert playout of the whole evening will have you really feeling like detectives! Alternatively, a fun meal in a hen-friendly restaurant is a great way to start your evening, and we'll happily make the reservations for you. Lastly, we'd highly recommend topping your evening activities off with guestlist nightclubbing to one of the city's best nightclubs - you're guaranteed a top experience in a venue where you can party till you drop!

Bars and Pubs

With over 100 bars and pubs, Cheltenham has a really energetic nightlife. The trendy Montpellier district is mainly known in Cheltenham for its fine dining restaurants and boutique shops, but it excels in chic European style wine bars too. It's an excellent location to indulge in a glass of vino, dine al fresco, and soak up the gorgeous regency architecture. If you want something a little more upmarket, Regent Street has a host of cosmopolitan little cocktail bars, so visit one (or two, or more...) for a quick drink before you head to the clubs.

Cultural Cheltenham

The bars and pubs certainly aren't all that Cheltenham is about. Cheltenham is known as the 'Festival Town of England', and with good reason, hosting more festivals than anywhere else in the country. Chances are then that whenever you've booked your Cheltenham hen night there will be something to see - but if you have had the bad luck to miss each extravaganza, don't worry: just experiencing the beauty of the town is a celebration in itself. Just visit the Spa, Promenade, or Imperial Gardens in the summer if you don't believe us!

Getting Around Cheltenham

Walking around the centre is lovely if you have the time (and the footwear) to do so - Cheltenham is pretty and pleasant, so stroll along the streets if you can. All of our hotels are centrally located with excellent facilities, or for a bit more privacy, you can book into an apartment - all of ours are spacious, fully equipped, and excellent value for money.

Cheltenham Clubbing

You might not go to Cheltenham for the club scene, but you should certainly stay for it! Both the University of Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire College are situated in Cheltenham, and the town is buzzing when the sun goes down. One of Britain's best-rated clubs is located here, and the rest certainly put up a good fight! Cheltenham offers a surprisingly wide variety of clubs, from energetic house and club classics to retro pop cheese fun, to moody atmospheric indie nights, to dirty electro beats. The majority of these are in fairly close proximity to one another along Regent Street, Bath Road, and the Promenade, so you don't have to limit yourself to just one!

Cheltenham Tipples

Drinking after dark in Cheltenham is a real treat - there aren't many places in the UK that you can find a cocktail bar built in an old church! And if they don't manage to convert you, there are plenty of others to try. J's Vodka Bar on Regent Street offers a range of top quality vodka-based cocktails, as well as some other speciality spirits - their Lemon Meringue Martini is divine. Refined hens looking for a little sophistication should go straight to Montpellier - the wine bar is the height of elegance, or the stylish Soho Bar has just opened a champagne bar on premises. If you're looking to get some local flavour, skip the bars and head to the pubs instead. The Exmouth Arms has a fantastic menu and some wonderful live music events, but for the best selection of ales and ciders, you'll want to go to the Beehive. The gastropub has the best selection of locally brewed beers in the town, as well as locally sourced food.

Cheltenham Cuisine

Fine dining restaurants reign supreme in cultured Cheltenham. Le Champignon Sauvage has Michelin stars, French cuisine, and rave reviews, but for a similar dining experience at more affordable prices, Armagnac is a reasonably priced alternative. Pubs will often offer the best in traditional British grub, so head back to the Exmouth Arms or the Royal Oak Inn. There are a surprising variety of restaurants catering to more exotic tastes too, with various Asian cuisines, Mediterranean and even Swedish food on offer. Cheltenham's prices can get a little steep when it comes to dining out, so in order to get the best food and the best prices, check with GoHen. Just let us know what you want to eat and your price range, and we can do the rest.
