It's official survey after survey considers the nightlife in Budapest to be amongst the best in the world. And we see no reason to disagree; from edgy bars to banging clubs, the phenomenal quality of the Budapest hen nightlife is one of the worst kept secrets in the world. 'Ruin clubs' rise from the rubble and transform into some of the slickest, sleekest venues the city has to offer, bohemian wine lounges ply Hungarian wine (the best wine you've never tried), and there's an eclectic range of bars and restaurants to chose from too. All this, before we've even touched on the nightclubs.

Your guide to hen nights in Budapest

Bars and Pubs

Budapest is divided in half by the Danube, into Buda and Pest. In Buda, the area is mostly dedicated to day-time tourist activities and restaurants. On the other hand, the Pest area on the east side of the river is a vibrant, dynamic district, with nightclubs, jazz, wine and cocktail bars, and pubs transforming the city into the perfect spot for a hen night! Increasingly popular night spots in Pest are the 'Ruin Pubs' (or 'rom kocsma' in Hungarian), atmospheric and intimate bars built in the basements and ground floors of abandoned buildings. If you'd like an introduction to Budapest, a guided pub crawl is a great idea. Not only will you get taken to the best bars the Budapest hen nightlife has to offer, but you'll also get some useful info about ordering and drinking too invaluable when it's time to go it alone!

The clubs here tend towards the massive and the glamorous, ideal for a group of ladies looking to celebrate in style on their hen night in Budapest. Closing times often run later than 5am, so you'll be able to make the most of every hour and dance literally till dawn! The size of the clubs is incredible too - one claims to have six dance floors, three bars, and 23 rooms to dance in! If you want to be sure of getting into experience the best of the nightlife that Budapest has to offer, try guestlist club entry. No hassle trying to figure out which clubs are good, no tricky working out the currency or converting rates on the door... just a night at one of the best clubs in one of the best clubbing cities in the world.

Feeling Hungary?

Budapest hen nights are ideal for girls on a budget, as the food is generally excellent value for money. Restaurants with English-language menus are most commonly found in areas like Liszt Ferenc tér, and Rday utca, both of which are very popular with tourists, and are packed with restaurants and cafes. Hungarian food is traditionally very meaty and hearty, ideal for a night out expect lots of soups, lots of sour cream, and lots of paprika. If you're not certain about trying Hungarian food, things like gomolya cheese (very like mozzarella), goulash (a beefy soup), or chicken paprika will ease you into things. And if you need anything else to make the meal even tastier, try a strip dinner good food and a great show makes it a real evening to remember.

Getting Around

Budapest is an easy city to navigate on foot, but it's not a compact one and if you're hoping to see a lot of the city, public transport will probably be necessary. The trams give the city a wide coverage. There's also an underground service ("vonat"), and a very comprehensive bus service ("busz". It's a difficult one, we know). If, however, you'd like to skip the difficulty of working out a foreign public transport system late at night, after a few drinks (and goodness knows the night buses are confusing enough in English), we'd suggest hiring a limo. Sure, it might seem like an overreaction to a slight inconvenience... but they are very cool. If not, then why not keep the party with you, by taking a river disco cruise? Sailing down the beautiful Danube on a boat stocked with alcohol and music- there's no party like it.
