Bride abseils a 20-storey building in her wedding dress!

We can understand the jitters that come before the big walk-down-the-aisle (mainly caused by the thought of tripping) but that’s got to be nothing compared to one brave bride-to-be’s rappel down a huge 20-storey building in her flowing white gown!

Meredith Lewallen, 26, is getting married tomorrow and to celebrate the upcoming nuptials and raise some money for charity she decided to make this brave leap into married life. The bride-to-be, complete with harness and helmet, eased her way over the side of the SunTrust building in Cattanooga, Tennessee yesterday in aid of River Rocks Chattanooga, a charity which donates to ecological projects and nature reserves.

After the trip Meredith told the Times Free Press, “As soon as they saw the white dress, I heard a bunch of cheers and woo-hoos and I though, OK, I’ve got to go, there’s no turning back.” She then admitted that walking down the aisle tomorrow should be a bit easier than her adventurous abseil- “as long as I don’t trip!”

There are 70 more thrill-seekers expected to rappel the building, each having raised at least $1000 dollars for their place. The 10 day RiverRocks festival is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts with yoga sessions, canoe trips, climbing and cycling. The event started up in 2009 and they’re now attended by around 50,000 people. The SunTrust building itself was built in 1968 and stands in down town Chattanooga, a town with 160,000 residents.
