Sixties music fans have colourful Beatles-themed wedding!
When Mark Wright and Rebecca Mowles from Merseyside got engaged there was only one possible option for the wedding; the Beatles-mad pair immediately went shopping for colourful suits and colourful decorations!
In celebration of the Fab Four the guests all had to adhere to a strict dress code- psychedelic sixties. The groom, best man and ushers wore custom-made colourful suits replicating the Beatle’s 1967 Sergeant Pepper album- with Mark wearing the bright blue suit of Sir Paul McCartney. The best man was Ringo Star and two ushers were John Lennon and George Harrison. Another guest, Joe Tillotson, went as the ‘Fifth Beatle’ George Best.
The highlight of their amazing wedding pictures has to be the cake- they got a specially made one of Abbey-Road with the Beatles walking across, based on the iconic album cover. To serenade his blushing bride the groom took to the dance floor with his ushers and performed Beatles covers while the guests got down with some groovy moves.
The loved-up pair spent their first date in 2006 on a Beatles tour of Liverpool, where they got to see landmarks like Penny Lane. Loved up in Liverpool, the pair soon decided to get engaged and inject some of the Beatle’s great personality into the day. “Our wedding had a sixties theme with a strong Beatles focus,” Rebecca said, “It was a joint decision, we had been to weddings before and they were all very serious and I felt quite uncomfortable and I didn’t want to feel like that on our day. I wanted a relaxed atmosphere and we both love the Beatles, so it made sense, and our first date was Beatles-themed. It was a common interest and something we both liked and it brought us together.”
She added, “We had all our tables named after the Beatles’ albums and we had a band that played some of their hits.” Mark said, “It was the best day of my life - it was so relaxed and really specific to what we wanted, we were really pleased.” Aww!
Big congratulations go out to Mark and Rebecca from us!
