Olympic archer and bride-to-be

We know that planning your nuptials can be a slightly stressful (to put it mildly) process – trying to get all the RSVP’s back, finding the perfect caterers, deciding on a location and persuading your fiancé not to book an Alaskan honeymoon. However, one superwoman who manages all of that at the same time as playing in the London 2012 Olympics is US archer Jennifer Nichols. She’s engaged to Chris Hardy, who’s been busy completing his law school finals, and together their wedding planning process has been ever-so-slightly unusual.

With her schedule seeing her practising for hours every day and his being full of end-of-semester work, they’ve needed to be super organised with arranging the flowers and bridesmaids! While Hardy interviewed cake companies – using a “point and pick” method he joked (at least we hope he’s joking) – she shot arrows. Even though this is her third Olympic performance, love and marriage still comes first for Jennifer who said happily, “I’m a kind of planner. So I love to think about plans for my wedding… I visualize what’s going to happen.”

The lucky pair have set their wedding date at September 1st which is more than enough time to get some planning and a fantastic hen party in! We wonder if she’ll take the hens for a spot of archery! Archery has been made popular by recent films like Hunger Games, Brave and The Avengers, and it’s an amazing sport for toning up your arms while having fun. If you fancy trying it out for your hen do and having lots of laughs with the girls then check out our archery hen activity – it’s available in a fantastic selection of locations in England and will separate the Maid Marrions from the girls buying the drinks later!
