Hens mistake policemen for strippers

Taking mistaken identity to a whole new level, a hen party staying in Darwin on Wednesday tried to strip some police offers, believing them to be strippers. The hen party, who were by then quite merry, were celebrating in the Humpty Doo Tavern in Darwin. After a nearby disturbance was reported at the tavern, the officers were called. When they arrived all was quiet, so they decided to check the nearby Humpty Doo Hotel, where they were met with a group of giggling hens who were celebrating a hen do in the hotels bar. The women instantly mistook the officers for strippers. “The girls were in fine form” Northern watch commander Louise Jorgenson told, “They were most excited about the police presence. There were various shouts about how the strippers had arrived. They nearly had their shirts torn off, but they managed to escape with their dignity intact”.

Excitable bride-to-be Wendy Haddon says the visit from the police added more excitement to the evening. “Well, we thought that they were going to be the strippers” she said, “but, no, they weren’t. We sort of had a few photos taken. I think it is going to be very hard to top that, even for the wedding”. Thankfully the police took it in good humour and no police action is being taken.
