Fears about the hen do

If you’ve recently got engaged you’ll know a lot of planning is on the horizon to make sure your big day is everything you dreamed off. Before your big day, you’ll be putting your trust in your maid of honour with the responsibility of organising a fun and stress free hen weekend.

If you’re quite daunted by the fact of having your hen do, don’t worry, many girls feel the same. After a recent poll held by the GoHen, we received the following reasons as to why brides-to-be are nervous about their upcoming hen do -

Friends or family pulling out of the hen do resulting in low numbers attending – The best way to overcome this is to prepare early. The earlier you start your planning and you start taking payments from your friends/family, the less likely they are to pull out.

The older members of the hen party not being able to keep up with the younger ones – We always recommend to look through our selection of hen activities and decide what activities you think would be appropriate for all group members. If you draw up an itinerary of the day’s events, you’ll be able to get peoples views and decide on your activities from there.

Your friends arranging strippers – You may cringe at the fact that your friends have arranged strippers. You could decide to just go with the flow and you may end up enjoying the entertainment but if it really isn’t your cup of tea, then let your maid of honour know well in advance not to book anything you don’t want. Remember, it’s your hen weekend.

Injuring yourself on your hen weekend – One of the scariest thoughts in the run up to your wedding is injuring yourself before the big day. No doubt a cocktail or two will be involved in your hen weekend celebrations and you’ll be taking part in activities with the group but one way to avoid unnecessary injury is to book your hen party with a professional hen weekend organiser like GoHen. We only work with experienced suppliers who have ran many events and have all insurance to keep you safe. Remember, if you’re travelling abroad, always arrange travel insurance.
